ABSTRACT

Background: Molnupiravir was granted approval by the UKS medicines and health product regulatory agency on 04 November 2021 and on 23 December 2021, granted emergency use of authorization by FDA. Objective: Provide a technique for measuring Molnupiravir in active pharmaceutical ingredients and formulations. Method: The wavelength maximum was found to be 236 nm. ICH guidelines were followed. The forced degradation study in the form of acidic, alkali, thermal, photolytic, hydrolytic, and oxidative stress conditions was carried out for Molnupiravir. Results: The method was linear, as measured by a coefficient of correlation (R2) of 0.9991 in the 10 to 50 µg/mL range. The %RSD for precision, accuracy, limit of detection (LoD), limit of quantitation (LoQ), ruggedness, and robustness was within acceptable limits per ICH Q2 (R1). Conclusion: HPLC equipped with a UV detector is used to create and verify the proposed method. An acetonitrile mobile phase component of 20% was used, demonstrating the more cost-effective technique. The extensive data of mobile phase optimization gives a complete idea of final chromatographic conditions, which can be further implemented for future analysis. Molnupiravir shows less than 4% degradation under different stress conditions. The forced degradation data helps show stability, indicating the behavior of Molnupiravir. © 2023, Dr. Yashwant Research Labs Pvt. Ltd.. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

This study systematically assess the paradigm shift in consumer behavior during Pre-COVID and COVID scenarios using social media (data collected from Facebook, Twitter, Pin Interest, YouTube, Reviews & Forums, and Google Plus) platforms. The study analyzed 523,764 and 1,054,794 social media responses in Pre-COVID and COVID eras respectively. Due to the large volume of the data, for Pre-COVID era, responses from August to December 2019 were considered. For COVID era, responses from January to June 2020 were taken into the account. The organic food categories, considered in the study were Snacks, Fruits, Vegetables, Beers & Alcohol, Meat, Flour, Dairy, Cereals & Savories, Health Drink, Noodles & Fast Food, Dessert and Pizza & Pasta. In the study three-stage filtering for Sentiment Analysis was performed (86.4% accuracy achieved) using Natural Language Processing, Manual analysis of sentiment and Bi-Directional Encoder Representations from Transforms based model. It was concluded that in Pre-COVID era, people were less aware about the health benefits of organic food but in COVID era, the awareness level of consumers rose exponentially about various organic food categories, especially about processed organic food categories and benefits of raw organic food categories. In Pre-COVID Era, consumers were mainly focused on fresh fruits and vegetables. In COVID Era, food categories like Dairy, Meat and Vegetables were at the top. Fruits, snacks, beer and alcohol were also in high demand. While analyzing the Pre-COVID and COVID scenarios, we observed a shift in consumer behaviour from raw organic food categories towards processed and semi-processed organic food categories. Organic noodles & fast food, dessert and health drinks still remained as the least preferred food categories. The study is unique since it provides a macro and micro view of shift in consumer behavior preferences in Pre-COVID and COVID eras using social media at various geographical locations worldwide. This research will help manufacturers of organic food to reshape their existing consumer behavior and market penetration strategies. It will also help in new product designing and increasing the consumer base both at the local and global levels. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

ABSTRACT

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly hypercoagulable viral infection complicated as COVID-inflicted coagulopathy (CIC), that is associated with increased risk of morbidity and mortality. International guidelines recommend low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) to treat CIC in both in-hospital and in-home settings. However, in India, using subcutaneous LMWH may not be a feasible option for a vast majority of patients under home management. Additionally, while some evidence advocates the use of novel oral anticoagulants (NOACs), in hospitalized settings, most guidelines find no role of NOACs in hospital settings. On the other hand, the resource crunch faced in recent COVID-19 pandemic in India forced physicians to treat many patients in home settings. These patients had been usually prescribed NOACs for ease of administration and adherence. Therefore, there is a need to form a consensus on the use of NOACs to manage CIC in India. © 2021 Journal of Association of Physicians of India. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda has given much importance to prevent the diseases by stating var-ious measures. Medicated smoke fumigation (Dhoopana) is one of such measures described for disinfection as well as protection from poisonous animals and insects. Herbal, herbo-mineral and animal origin formulations containing volatile oil and having antimicrobial property are used for medicated smoke fumigation. Fumigation with such drugs is safe, natural and cost effective technique. Mosquito borne diseases are major human health problem in all tropical and subtropical countries by affecting millions of people each year. Commercial repellents like Allethrin, DEET have been reported many harmful effects for humans. There is a need for further standardised studies in order to develop new products that offer high repellency as well as good consumer safety. A review is planned to investigate ingredients of Jatwadi Dhoom Agad through analyzing published experimental research work. Out of eight ingredients of Jatwadi Dhoom Agad, two showed mosquito repellent effect and three have mosquito larvicidal effect. This paper is foot step in the efforts to estab-lish probable mode of action of Jatwadi Dhoom Agad as insect repellent. The effect of smoke of these drugs may be repellent for mosquitoes. All drugs have shown antimicrobial activity in vitro. This product has potential to be used as fumigation product in current COVID 19 pandemic.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection and subsequent lockdown restrictions brought drastic changes in the lives of the people. Doctors' community led the fight against COVID-19 as frontline warriors leaving their families at home for prolonged periods. The psychological issues among the family members, particularly spouses of doctors, are significantly high and need special attention. Aims: We aimed to assess the level of psychological distress among doctors' spouses and the possible relationship between different variables and the level of the distress. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted in online mode using chain-referral sampling method. Sample size was 120 and comprises doctors' spouses who were not related to medical field. Those who were working in medical field or having any past psychological illness were excluded from the study. A semi-structured pro forma was used to collect the basic demographic details, and Kessler's Psychological Distress Scale (K10) was used to rate psychological distress. Results: 72.5% of the study population had reported psychological distress, and half of these participants reported severe psychological distress. Age was the single variable that had significance (P < 0.1), whereas other variables did not show statistically significant values. Conclusion: Psychological distress is much higher compared to the general population in the spouses of the doctors. In long run, this may result in psychological illnesses such as depression and anxiety disorders. As a special group, these require targeted interventions and care for the prevention of severe mental health problems. © 2021 Archives of Mental Health ;Published by Wolters Kluwer - Medknow.

ABSTRACT

In recent two decades, SARS, MERS and Covid 19 are the most infectious diseases spread all over the world, and are spread through the same virus called a Coronavirus with different features. Mostly this virus affects the respiratory system and has symptoms like high-grade fever, cough, headache, respiratory distress. It is affecting not only on the health level but also at the psychological and economic levels. Infectious diseases like these can be easily prevented by following some rules in our daily routine. The preventive measures given by the world health organisation (WHO) to avoid this infection are washing hands frequently, using masks, maintaining social distancing. All these preventive methods are already depicted in Ayurveda texts. Pursuing the Din-charya (daily routine) and Rutucharya (seasonal routine), mentioned in the Samhita is the best way to avoid the diseases caused by any changes experi-enced in the environment, also by following these rules disease can be pre-vented. Dincharya is the procedures which should be followed in day to day life, but Rutucharya is about the procedures which should be followed by the person as per the season. As per Ayurveda regular use of these rules and reg-ulation helps to maintain the balance of Dosha (an essential constituent) by which diseases can be prevented. So this study is about the methods which will be helpful to avoid Corona infection by following the simple daily routine and seasonal routine.
